Hi,

I'm trying to run an experiment (E-Prime 1) which works on my desktop computer but wont work when connected to Netstation in the lab.

I get a runtime error 'An error occurred while attempting to open the device' Device name; Sound. Error; 0x00000385. 'Unable to create the DirectX object: 0x88780078.

I'm not sure whether the problem is with the lab computer and its sound capabilities, or something else. As far as i can tell the computer has a sound card etc. Any ideas appreciated!

Thanks.

Chris

Hi,

We had the same error; not sure which one fixed it but we did the following

1) installed latest version of direct X - this didn't help

2) right clicked on the volume control and checked the properties to make sure it wasn't disabled

3) plugged in speakers - once the speakers were in it played!  Even though we had it working on the same hardware but different operating system.

Cheers,

Vanessa
