Users will notice that beginning 2008-03-18 that an expiration warning appears when launching E-Studio. While the E-Prime Development Team is currently pushing the latest build through our QA process that is targeted for public availability prior to the current available version expiration, PST is offering the ability to download a patch to eliminate the expiration message from occurring on currently installed systems. This provides the ability to update to the most recently available version at your labs discretion. The E-Prime Development Team appreciates your patience while we address this issue and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause your lab. New Installation Targeted A new installation that targets Professional features such as the PackageFile Editor will be release prior to the end of March 2008. Labs are encouraged to update their systems to this version when it becomes available. Existing Stations Can Use Patch If your E-Prime 2.0 installation is version 2.0.1.109 or 2.0.1.119, a patch will be made available that will eliminate the expiration message. If you are using a version of E-Prime not previously listed, you are encouraged to first install a version in the list and then apply the appropriate patch for your version. Download Full installations and patch downloads are available in web support at http://www.pstnet.com/e-prime/support/download.asp. An E-Prime 2.0 serial number is required to register for E-Prime Web Support. How do I know what version of E-Prime I am running? Upon opening E-Studio, The E-Prime build is described by the first four part version number as seen in the splash screen. For reference, the E-Studio version number represents its specific component (E-Studio is part of the E-Prime build). Alternatively view the Help…About menu option which brings up the E-Studio About box. KB2596 - INFO: How to Determine Version Number of E-Prime or Components of E-Prime? Why is there an expiration? PST has typically implemented an expiration to its products prior to a GOLD release to ensure end users are using the most recent version of the software. Because of the demands required by IT personnel to install and update the E-Prime 2.0 software, PST has chosen to remove the expiration from any future updates to E-Prime 2.0 and E-Prime 2.0 Professional so that updating can be done during the timetable provided by the IT departments. While the expiration of an update will not occur, PST encourages using the most recent version of E-Prime 2.0 to ensure your lab is using the software with the most available features and corrects any anomalies found through support. Future revisions of E-Prime 2.0 and E-Prime 2.0 Professional will add features and characteristics that will require changes in the supported file formats. These changes will require migrating to the newer file format and will not be backwards compatible. The E-Prime Development Teams are striving to limit these number of times the file format change and migration is required. As of this writing, these migration paths will occur when Property Scheme Defaults and Port Pulsing are implemented and then once at the time of the GOLD release. E-Prime 2.0 has been effectively feature complete for a number of the Release Candidate versions. Additions continue to be made primarily to the E-Prime 2.0 Professional edition. The E-Prime Development Team has been targeting a number of features that will be rolled out in the upcoming builds. Please keep posted to the forum and knowledge base sections of the Web Support site for information about features included in each build.

| We have just tried removing the expiration message by updating to 109 in our lab. However, after entering our licence key, when we open E-prime Studio 2 it informs us that we are in violation of the licence agreement. We have the hardware key attached. Any ideas as to what is going wrong?

| After applying the patch, some configurations have reported the following discrepancies... 1) If the hw key is no longer detected, then run HaspUserSetup.exe from the Support folder on your EP2 CD or download via http://www.pstnet.com/downloads/misc/HaspUserSetup.exe. Upon running, click next through the wizard or choose the Repair option if prompted. You may need to remove and then add your hw key or restart your machine for it to be recognized after using HaspUserSetup.exe 2) If objects in the toolbox are causing concerns after the update, then go to Tools...Options and select the Toolbox tab. Click the Reset Toolbox button and then restart E-Studio. 3) If the Properties, Structure, etc window do not appear when E-Studio opens, then you can choose to hide/show them via the View menu. Closing E-Studio and reopen should maintain the last state. If you continue to have an issue or your concern is not addressed, then please reply or create a web support ticket. -Brandon

Brandon.Cernicky (4/3/2008)
If you continue to have an issue or your concern is not addressed, then please reply or create a web support ticket.
But when I go to create a web support ticket, I find the following message: "To promote information sharing amongst all end users, please note that E-Prime Web Support is not handling any E-Prime 2.0 BETA support requests. Please direct your E-Prime 2.0 BETA request to http://support.pstnet.com/forum."
What gives?
Thanks,

| For reasons unknown to me and E-prime support team, my experiment (with movies repeated 18 times) only worked with E-prime Beta. I tried all release candidate versions. Today, an hour before my scan, it gave me a message that E-prime 2.0 has expired: get a patch. All patches are for E-prime 2.0.1.119 or 109. I need Beta patch 2.0.61. Is this possible? please help. I spent almost two months trying to configure the new versions that will not work adn the only way it worked was with Beta. Please provide me with the expiration patch. The one on the beta website does not run (says my E-prime version is too old). Should I download E-prime beta again and rerun the patch? Please let me know. Maheen
