Hello all,

the subject lines pretty much describe my question already... In the experiment I need to present a slide with target objects, to which subjects are to respond only after an auditory "go" signal which is supposed to vary in time of onset after target object onset (I`d like get the attribute "onset delay" from my List Object)... As of yet, I haven`t found a way how to do that, so I´d really be extremely happy if anyone could help me.

Thanks in advance,

Katharina

Hi,

first of all, if you have not already done that, you should check in the experiment properties if the sound device is active, if not you have to do that. Second you have to set the sound device properties to match your .wav file (for sound) properties. Third you have to:

1) specify in the target duration (that it is supposed to be presented before the target) as [OnsetDelay] if the target has a variable duraton that depends on the sound onset timing.

OR

2) set a target duration and build another object which has to be presented after the target and before the sound, if the target has a fixed duration. The duration of the object in in that case should be set as [OnsetDelay] and the sound should be presented after.

Hope it helps.

Best,

Stefania

I would like to do the same thing in my study - with startle sounds presented at 3, 4, and 5 seconds after the onset of a slide.  I can not figure out how to do it from the user guides or any of the available info online.

Can anybody tell me, plainly, how to set these delays?  I am new to Eprime, so need clear instruction if you have them.

Many thanks!

Anna

This might not be the best way, but I know you can get it to work if you set the duration of your stimulus object to 0, and insert a wait object after it, followed by a soundOut object for the sound you would like to play. You can also use a variable in the "duration" field for the wait object.
